Benjamin Billiard joined DSP in 2009. He started his investment career as a sell-side analyst covering Telecom Services at Merrill Lynch. He joined the buy-side in 2006, initially covering Telecom Services and Banks at Alken and subsequently as an analyst at Gandhara Capital, a long-short equity fund. Prior to business school, Benjamin was a strategy consultant with Booz-Allen. Benjamin has a business degree from HEC and an MBA with concentration in finance from The Wharton School.  He is a CFA charterholder.

Focus: Global Asset Allocation and Private Client Service

Rupert manages the Global Asset Allocation portfolios for a wide range of client types. Previously he worked for the Schroder Group for 28 years, including periods as managing director of its private wealth management and securities businesses. He was latterly a director of Cazenove Capital Management where he was managing portfolios for their private clients. He serves on the investment committee of several substantial charities. He has a degree in Modern languages from Worcester College, Oxford.

Focus: Melchior European Fund and the MST European Absolute Return Fund (ucits III) 

Leonard Charlton manages the Melchior European Fund and the Melchior Selected Trust European Absolute Return Fund for Dalton Strategic Partnership. He is a fund manager with 13 years of investment experience in Global equity markets. Leonard’s investment approach is a flexible combination of fundamental analysis with a trading overlay  with the aim of generating uncorrelated high risk adjusted returns.

Prior to joining Dalton Strategic Partnership in 2006, Leonard worked for GLG Partners where he was co-manager of the GLG European Opportunity Fund. Prior to this he was an equity trader for Goldman Sachs International .  Leonard holds an  BSc in Management Science from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.

John Cotton joined DSP in 2003.  His role is principally one of business development and client relationships,  in which he specializes in developing the Group's business amongst Family Offices, Private Banks, Funds of Funds and Institutions mainly on the European Continent.

He has some 40 years of experience in financial services, mainly in asset management and private banking. Previous positions include that of MD with Mercury Asset Management (SG Warburg Group), 1992  - 2002;  and as CEO of Banque Belge (latterly  Mees Pierson/Fortis) where, over the previous ten years, he created a Private Banking and Trust business in London, Guernsey and  Nassau.

Andrea joined DSP’s Global Asset Allocation team in September 2009. In 2001 he moved to London to join the international team of Schroder & Co. where he specialised in providing investment services on a discretionary basis to European private clients.  From 2002 until 2007 he worked for Cazenove Capital Management as a fund director covering international private clients and family offices. He also worked for Merrill Lynch Portfolio Managers as a director in discretionary portfolio management for European private clients. Andrea has a degree in Economics from L.U.I.S.S. - G. Carli University, Rome (Italy).

Nick joined DSP in 2011 to head up the Institutional business. He is responsible for developing and managing relationships with investment consultants and institutional clients. He has worked in the asset management industry since 2001. Prior to joining DSP Nick was a Senior Vice President at Lazard Asset Management responsible for a range of institutional clients. Prior to this he was a Relationship Director at Fidelity. Nick graduated from Imperial College with a degree in Molecular Biology, and holds the Investment Management Certificate.

Philip is responsible for risk and IT at DSP. Philip advises DSP’s portfolio managers on all aspects of portfolio risk management and also manages IT software development and infrastructure.
 
He has worked in major financial institutions including Deutsche bank, Merrill Lynch and Bankers Trust Company for the last 23 years in various roles in risk management, quantitative research and trading IT. Philip holds PhD in Applied Maths from Imperial College, MBA  and BSc.

Prior to working for FuNNeX, Keizo worked for Daiwa International Capital Management (currently Daiwa SB Investments) as a US and European equity fund manager and latterly was a director and Japanese equity chief fund manager for overseas clients at Tokyo office. Keizo now works as the chief portfolio manager for the Japan Advantage Strategy.

JJ joined Dalton Strategic Partnership in 2007. During his first two years, he concentrated on gaining a complete understanding of the business working in fund management, business development and operations as part of the DSP graduate training program. JJ now focuses on looking after existing clients as well as identifying and developing new business.

JJ graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a MA (Hons) degree in Geography before joining DSP. He completed the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) in 2008.

Before joining Dalton Strategic Partnership in 2006 Richard was Head of Pan European Sales at First State Investments in London. Richard and his team were responsible for the distribution of First State's long only and hedge fund products, collective and segregated, to European wholesale institutions and intermediaries. Prior to joining First State in 2001, Richard was responsible for the distribution of JP Morgan investment funds into sections of the UK intermediary market. Prior to that, he was responsible for the regional distribution of investment funds for Fidelity Investments in the UK. Richard joined Fidelity in 1994.

Peter Kaye manages North American equity portfolios for Dalton Strategic Partnership.  He is a fund manager with 16 years investment experience. Peter manages the Melchior North American Opportunities Fund and the Melchior Selected Trust North American Opportunities Fund.
 
Prior to joining Dalton Strategic Partnership in 2004, Peter worked for Henderson Global Investors as Head of their North American Equity Team.  Before this, Peter spent seven years at Mercury Asset Management / MLIM where he managed the Mercury Selected Trust North America fund, which was AAA rated by S&P.  Peter was educated at the University of Cambridge, where he obtained an MA and a PhD.  He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Henrietta Luk is the Managing Director of Dalton Capital (Hong Kong) Limited. She is a fund manager with 24 years of investment experience in the Asia ex Japan ex India equity markets. Henrietta is responsible for managing the Melchior Asia Opportunities Fund, as well as running the office in Hong Kong.

Prior to setting up the office for Dalton in Hong Kong in 2005, Henrietta co-founded Eva Asset Management and was the manager of Eva Shareholders’ Value Fund. She also spent five years at Hambro Pacific Fund Management, where she was the director heading the investment team. She won two awards at Hambros.

Nick joined Dalton Strategic Partnership in March 2010. Nick is an experienced global equity investor. He was a founding and managing partner and a global equity portfolio manager at Origin Asset Management LLP, and as the Head of Equities at Investec Asset Management Limited he was responsible for managing the London equity team and global equity portfolios, and on his arrival he originated the 4Factor™ process. Before joining Investec in 2000, he was a Director of Schroder Investment Management Limited and the Global Head of Research, responsible for over 100 equity analysts around the world. Nick also managed equity funds for Schroders, after joining the company as an investment analyst in 1990. Nick is a Chartered Accountant and has a degree in English and American literature from the University of Kent at Canterbury.

Nabeel Mughal is the Deputy Fund Manager for the North American Strategy at DSP.  Before joining DSP Nabeel worked as an analyst on Hendersons's North American equity team.  This team was responsible for in excess of $2 billion in assets.  Educated at King's College London, he has a BSc in Mathematics and Management.  He is a CFA Charterholder.

Japan Fund Manager

Focus: Melchior Japan Opportunities Fund (UK OEIC) 

Ken is the President and CIO of FuNNeX Asset Management which was established in January 2000. He started his career as a research analyst and, later, strategist at Nikko Securities, before joining Warburg Investment Management (later Mercury Asset Management and Merrill Lynch Investment Management) in Tokyo in 1986 as a fund manager, subsequently becoming the Managing Director in charge of the Japanese equity fund management team. During his career at Mercury Asset Management, Ken managed the Mercury Selected Trust (MST) Japan Opportunities Fund from inception in 1986 to December 1999 when he left the firm. During this period, the MST Japan Opportunities Fund received ‘Best Performer’ awards for 1 year in 1996; 3 years in 1997 and 3 and 5 years in 1998 from S&P; and for 5 and 10 years in 1998 from Lipper. The fund was rated AAA by S&P Fund Research and awarded **** by Global Fund Analysis.

Focus: Private Client Service

Richard Nunneley, Head Of Charities, has some 28 years investment experience having trained initially as a Gilt Edged Analyst with what became BZW.  Despite becoming a Member of the London Stock Exchange in 1972 he decided in 1975 to take a 17 year sabbatical in the outside world. In 1992 he joined Mercury Asset Management subsequently Merrill Lynch Investment Managers where he became a Director. Early in the 2000s he joined Cazenove Capital Management as a director.
 
For the last 18 years his focus has been managing assets for UHNWs and charities. He also managed “Smaller” Pension Funds, normally for family or similar organisations. Between 2001 and 2009 he was De Facto Managing Director of the Armed Forces Common Investment Fund which was at the time an earthbreaking concept. Currently he is a Trustee for, or Independent Advisor to, eight Charities and Single Family offices.  That said he over the years he has been involved in the management and investment restructuring of a wide spectrum of Not For Profit Organisations. He is a member of the Charities Investment Group and Charity Finance Directors’ Group.

Gaurav Pant, Partner, joined DSP in early 2011.  Gaurav started his career in 2003 at Goldman Sachs, London working in the Financing Group (Investment Banking Division). From 2007 onwards, he worked in Goldman Sachs Principal Strategies in London focussing on Europe.  He has a degree in Engineering from Delhi College and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Glen has been DSP’s UK equity specialist for 5 years during which he has managed the MUKOF using a bottom-up selection process. Previously he worked for Newton Investment Management, where he was lead manager on £1.7 billion of UK equities, including the Newton Growth Fund (A rated by S&P) and the Newton Income Fund (A rated by S&P and AA rated by OBSR - Forsyth). Previously Glen worked at Fidelity where he managed the Fidelity UK Aggressive Fund. Under his management this fund achieved top quartile performance over four years and was rated 5 star by Morningstar.

David Robinson is the investment manager of the Melchior Selected Trust: European Opportunities Fund and a Senior Analyst on the MST: European Absolute Return Fund and the Melchior European Fund.

David joined DSP in 2005 after qualifying as a lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhous Deringer.  He started his investment career on the Melchior North American Opportunities Fund in 2005-6, before joining the European team for the launch of the Melchior European Fund in October 2006.  David has a degree in Modern History from New College, Oxford.

Jenifer was previously a principal with Laketon Investment Management (purchased by Great West Life Insurance in 2004) for six years where she was one of three portfolio managers responsible for management of Cdn$3.5 billion invested in Canadian equities. Prior to that, Jenifer worked with the team that managed Cdn$2.0 billion at both Canagex and Manulife Financial.  She has a degree in Economics and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Magnus is the Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of the group and is a founding partner.  Before joining DSP Magnus was Head of the Ultra-High Net Worth Team at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers responsible for this client segment in the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He trained as a chartered accountant in London and was the group financial controller of Mercury Asset Management Group plc.

Shingo was originally a professional accountant with Coopers & Lybrand London from 1989 to 1997. He joined Mercury Asset Management Japan (currently Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Japan or “MLIM”) in 1997 and acted as the Chief Financial Officer, before becoming a fund manager specializing in Japanese Small Cap equities with the same firm from 1999. Prior to joining FuNNeX he was the Head of Equity Products for MLIM.

Focus: Melchior Resources Fund (Lux Sicav)

Kim is the President and founder of Interward Capital.  He launched the company in 1990 subsequent to the sale of Wardair Canada Limited in 1989. Kim was Vice President of Sales and Marketing and a Board member of Wardair by the time of his departure. He oversaw strategy in transitioning the airline from charter to scheduled services. Wardair was the third largest airline in Canada at time of sale. Kim has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Alberta.

Akira started his investment career at Daiwa International Capital Management (currently Daiwa SB Investments) in 1988 where he was a Japan equity fund manager. He was a group leader of Japanese equity value team managing USD 1.5Bn for institutional clients.
